About Me
Getting to know Stephen Telian
My Story
My journey into programming began in high school, where I was inspired by a dedicated computer teacher who ignited my passion for coding. During the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, programming became my consistent anchor - the one thing I could focus on and grow with when everything else was uncertain.
When it came to university, I chose Health Records Informatics at Rongo University in Kenya with a clear purpose. This field is designed to build and maintain systems for hospital record management at a time when the Kenyan health industry is transitioning away from paper-based records to digital solutions. I wanted to be part of this crucial transformation.
My professional journey started on Upwork, where I landed my first development job and have been freelancing consistently in my free time. Alongside client work, I've been passionately developing my own projects, most notably Geliana Timetables - a desktop application designed to help Kenyan educational institutions optimize their timetabling with AI-powered features.
What started as a hobby during the pandemic has evolved into a full-fledged career and passion. I'm driven by the desire to solve real-world problems through technology, whether it's helping schools manage their schedules or building robust web applications that make a difference in people's lives.
